Scope of work

Clough completed the contact for the construction of a high-pressure gas pipeline linking Karratha and Port Hedland in the north of Western Australia, for BHP's Iron Ore subsidiary, Pilbara Energy Pty Ltd.

The project involved the construction of 214 kilometres of 450-millimetre welded steel pipe across nine major rivers and was completed in an extremely tight timeframe.

Initial mobilisation included organising and transporting equipment from Clough operations in Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Indonesia, along with the recruitment of 200 personnel and subcontractors, and the establishment of camp accommodation.

The project tied-in the pipeline into existing offtake from the Dampier to Perth gas pipeline in Karratha to hook-up with a new gas fired power station in Port Hedland.
