Clough completed the supply and installation contract for a 97-kilometre ductile iron cement lined pipeline (DICL), which will transfer treated effluent from Wetalla Water Treatment Plant in Toowoomba to a new 840-Megawatt coal fired power station at Millmerran, in southern Queensland.
The project involved the installation of the pipeline, the construction of two chlorination plants, a filtration plant, a pump station, a 400 Megalitre storage dam, two 200 kilolitre storage tanks, and a radio telemetry and supervisory control and data acquisition system (SCADA).
The flat terrain of the pipeline route presented the challenge of very tight construction tolerances, which were overcome using a combination of laser surveying equipment and cement stabilised bedding in the form of a flowable slurry.
