Scope of work

Clough is delivering the design and construction scope for the Dampier Port Authority's new Dampier Bulk Handling Facility (DBHF), which will be stage one of the overall Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects. The contract, worth AUD 283 million.

Dampier is a major industrial port in the Pilbara region in the northwest of Western Australia. The site is located within the Port of Dampier, approximately 1,540 kilometres north of Perth, Western Australia, and 260 kilometres west of Port Hedland.

The construction of the DBHF involves the delivery of a new land-backed wharf, redevelopment of the Heavy Load-Out quarry area, and dredging of a 280-metre long, 13.2-metre-deep berth pocket, and 11-metre-deep vessel manoeuvring area.

The new wharf will be designed for berthing Supramax and Panamax bulk carrier vessels and includes a shiploader and conveyor for the bulk handling of urea.

When not in use as a bulk handling facility, the wharf will accommodate general cargo vessels and provide a harbour crane for rapid discharge of container and breakbulk vessels.
