Scope of work

Clough completed a contract for Rio Tinto to complete the FEED, detailed design and procurement support for the Cape Lambert Power Station near Wickham in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

The project involved the design and procurement of a 130MW combined cycle power station comprising two dual fuel DLE GE LM6000 gas turbines, waste heat boilers, and a steam turbine, air cooled condenser.

The project also involved site establishment, earthworks such as PowerStation pad and roadworks, access road, abutments, sedimentation pond, evaporation pond and embankments, access road, Site drainage, installation of two GTG Packages steam cycle equipment, including one ACC, one STG Unit and all BOP, design and installation of a sewage treatment plant in accordance with specifications and datasheets.

The project replaced the old low-efficiency station at Cape Lambert, and the new power station two new gas turbines will deliver 120MW of power, support an iron ore prediction capacity of 333 million tonnes per year.
