Scope of work

Clough completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for a hydrogen transfer line for Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC), a government organisation responsible for the downstream petrochemical activities of the Oil &Gas sector of Kuwait.

The hydrogen transfer line, which consisted of two compressors and approximately 10.5 kilometres of pipeline, was required to feed hydrogen gas to the new KNPC Gas Oil Desulphurixation (GOD) plant within the Mina Al Ahmadi (MAA) Refinery.

The project involved the supply and installation of a 2.5km pipeline supplying lean gas and a lean gas compressor for the Shauiba Refinery and an 8km pipeline for the supply of hydrogen to the refineries.
The project also involved upgrades to the distributed control systems (DCS) in both refineries and all civil, concrete, and structural steel work related to the compression and other associated equipment, creating an integration of new compressor and pipeline systems through the MAA and PAI Refineries to the Shauiba Refinery.
