Clough was awarded a series of contracts at the Worsley Alumina plant in the southwest of Western Australia.
The project involved with initial piling tests, followed by a series of foundation contracts on the site. The first major work was a piling contract for the power station where more than 14 kilometres of H-Pile sections were driven in just over three months.
The contract also involved the construction of a concrete stack for the powerhouse. Work on the stack required slip forming of a 10.5 metre diameter windshield x 76 metres high, with six intermediate concrete floors cast at approximately 12 metre intervals. The floors are used to support three acid resistant brick flues. The flues were painted internally and insulated externally with 50 millimetres of mineral fibre insulation.
Other works involved Clough constructing foundations for a green liquor facility, water treatment plant and concrete installation works associated with the powerhouse, as well as civil work for a demineraliser plant.
