Scope of work

Clough, in joint venture with Seymour Whyte, completed a design, construction and commissioning contract for the upgrade of Section 5 of the Brisbane Inner Northern Busway, located in Herston, Brisbane.

The project involved the design, construction, and commissioning of a 1.6km dual lane carriageway and associated roadworks.

The project also involved major structures consisting of three bridges and two ‘cut and cover’ tunnels with a combined length of 400m, and specifically civil works associated with busway stations adjacent to the Queensland University of Technology and Kelvin Grove Campus, ventilation, fire services, communication systems and emergency egress facilities within the tunnels, alterations to the golf course, bus turnaround facility adjacent to the university and a 10m-long stub connection from Section 5 to Section 6.

The project assisted in the 4.7km dedicated dual lane busway consisting of eight stations positioned between the existing Queen Street Station through to the Royal Brisbane Hospital at Herston. The busway provides access for emergency vehicles and was designed to be shared with light rail operations.
