Meet Andrew Manson, SMP Superintendent for the Woodman Point Water Treatment Facility Upgrade project in Perth!

Andrew is a highly experienced and enthusiastic leader, and he’s excited to be contributing to Western Australia’s largest and most advanced wastewater treatment plant.

“I arrived in Australia from New Zealand 14 years ago and have continued working within my trade, both on the tools and in management roles. I've enjoyed and learned a lot from both sides of the industry - working on large infrastructure projects, small short-term shutdowns in various resource sectors, and across oil and gas, mining, and chemical projects.

“My journey with Webuild in Australia began in 2022 when I joined the Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 team as a Structural, Mechanical & Piping (SMP) Supervisor at the project’s module assembly yard. Since then, I have moved to the Woodman Point Water Treatment Facility Upgrade project, working with Integrate Alliance - a partnership between Clough, Water Corporation, and Jacobs.

“In my current role as SMP Superintendent, I’m responsible for overseeing subcontractors within the Alliance, as well as our direct workforce involved in self-performed construction and modifications to existing plant assets.

“I chose a career in the engineering and construction industry because I’ve always enjoyed the challenges and rewards of completing construction projects. From the beginning of my apprenticeship to now leading a team of supervisors and tradespeople, I’ve found great satisfaction in the work.

“What I enjoy most about my role is the diversity and variety of projects and people in the business. No matter the challenges we face daily, we tackle them together and solve them as a team.

“I’m excited about the opportunities within the Group - not only the long-term major projects but also the variety of work available locally, interstate, and both on and off-site. To anyone considering joining the business, I highly recommend it. There are plenty of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

“Bring your best self, take advantage of the experiences offered, and use them to learn and develop. Teaching the younger workforce entering the industry and learning more about how the larger parts of the business operate are passions of mine.

“Outside of work, sports have always been a significant part of my life, including mountain biking, running, and gym workouts. Now, with a young family, I love taking them to explore the incredible parts of Australia I’ve discovered over the years. Whenever possible, we head out camping to enjoy the great outdoors together.”
