Following the successful acquisition by the Webuild Group in February 2023, Clough has become the Australian subsidiary of Webuild, the global construction leader.
Clough is pleased to introduce its executive leadership team, which will manage the business through this new and exciting phase of growth and transformation. Peter Bennett, Clough’s long-standing CEO continues in this role, reporting to Marco Assorati, the Executive President for Clough.
Marco comes to Clough from Webuild, with over 25 years of experience in the business. During his career, Marco has held a wide range of management roles across the world overseeing projects in a vast scope of markets including metros, railways, tunnels, roads, bridges and hydroelectric power plants.
Whilst in his most current role at Webuild SPA as Executive Director Asia Pacific, Marco has overseen Webuild’s growth in Australia, leading the local team in the successful bid for Snowy 2.0, the largest pumped hydro project in Australia, North East Link in Melbourne, the largest private-public partnership project in Australia’s history, and Western Sydney Metro Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations and Maintenance, the single largest contract ever awarded by Sydney Metro.
Peter Bennett said: “I am pleased to continue working closely with Marco as Clough embarks on the newest chapter in our 104-year history, delivering some of the largest projects in Australia. We started working alongside each other in 2017, as Webuild and Clough formed a number of Joint Ventures in pursuit of projects on the East Coast, most notably Snowy 2.0 and Inland Rail. Now joined together in a single entity, we are well-positioned to combine our innovation, processes, and initiatives of both companies to provide exceptional solutions to our clients and partners, and continue our legacy as an employer of choice to our people.”
Marco Assorati added: “To be a leader at Clough during this time of exponential growth and transformation is an opportunity I am very excited about. I am pleased to be working with Peter and the entire Clough leadership team and look forward to the many successes ahead of us with Clough now the platform for Webuild in Australia.”
