Advisor - HR Indigenous & Social Inclusion

Purpose of the Role

The HR Indigenous & Social Inclusion Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting initiatives that promote Indigenous employment, cultural awareness and broader social inclusion within the organisation. This role involves fostering inclusive workplace practices, supporting Indigenous engagement strategies, and providing advice to leaders and employees to strengthen diversity and inclusion outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences or a related field - preferred
  • Cultural competency training or relevant Indigenous engagement certifications - preferred
  • White Card

Experience

  • Experience working in HR, diversity and inclusion, or Indigenous engagement roles
  • Proven ability to develop and implement diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous employment initiatives
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement, particularly with Indigenous communities and organisations
  • Experience delivering cultural awareness training and facilitating inclusive workplace programs

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Indigenous employment strategies and social inclusion programs to increase Indigenous employment, retention, and career development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, organisations, external partners and employees to support employment pathways.
  • Provide advice on Indigenous cultural matters and social inclusion policies to leadership, HR and Project teams.
  • Promote cultural awareness and inclusive workplace practices through training, education and events.
  • Deliver cultural awareness and inclusion training across the Project.
  • Monitor and report on Indigenous employment and inclusion metrics to ensure progress against targets and Project commitments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance Indigenous engagement and social inclusion initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP).
  • Facilitate initiatives aligned with Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP) and broader diversity strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies and industry standards.
