Commercial Director

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Director to join the Project Team in Perth! In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end commercial management of the Project as a member of the Project's senior leadership team including responsibility for upstream contract management with the Client and downstream contract management with the supply chain. This role will be a staff position required for the duration of the project.

Webuild is the preferred bidder for the design and construction of the Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. This landmark project will replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital and expand services and choice for women, newborns and families, delivering lasting benefits and a positive legacy for the people of Western Australia.

Your focus will include:

  • Support commercial negotiations in the active management of legislative, contractual, governance and regulatory compliance through the life of commercial agreements and contracts to ensure risk mitigation and benefit realisation related to the successful delivery of the project 

  • Co-ordinate, manage, and maintain relevant systems, processes and procedures related to contract management and project delivery.

  • Consult and liaise internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes

  • Prepare regular reports for senior leadership on the Project and for corporate detailing the financial and risk status of commercial agreements and contracts

  • Resolve commercial and contract disputes, carry out due diligence, and actively manage the project’s risk exposure to known and unknown risks

  • Provide proactive commercial and contract management input/advice and manage, collaboratively, stakeholder requirements throughout the project life cycle

  • Ownership and management of the Managing Contractor procurement model including building and maintaining strong relationships with the Client and associated stakeholders noting the highly collaborative nature of this style of procurement model;

  • Building and maintaining of relationships with key internal functions such as cost control and procurement, driving the Project to a successful conclusion for the Client and the Project

What you will bring to the team:

  • Extensive experience as a Commercial Director/Manager with experience working within a project management environment in commercial and contract administration gained on construction, engineering or associated projects, ideally in Perth/Western Australia

  • Lead the commercial function of a building project with value exceeding $500 Million with experience in the Health sector being considered beneficial

  • Experience leading commercial teams from site administrators to senior commercial managers across multiple sites

  • Advanced skills in developing procedures for project contract administration both upstream and downstream including interactions with the design and construction teams on the Project

  • Reporting and compliance with respect to commercial performance and legislation/code to prevent potential business exposure and in line with the corporate reporting requirements

  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals
