Clough completed the marine piling and wharf construction works associated with Worsley’s alumina loading and caustic offloading facilities located at the Bunbury inner harbour, Western Australia.
The project involved onshore works delivering 40m of radial beam, a pivot point to support a 3,000 tonne shiploader and two mooring dolphins. All onshore concrete works were installed on concrete piled foundations.
The project also involved marine works which entailed 140m of radial shiploading beam, which was supported by 48 x 610mm diameter steel piles. Four berthing dolphins and six bents of interconnecting wharf were supported by 43 x 762mm diameter steel piles. All dolphin piles required drilling and socketing into competent basalt before the superstructure was constructed.
