The Spark Joint Venture team has reached another significant milestone on the North East Link with the completion of excavation on the top section of the tunnels.

Using the Sequential Excavation Method (SEM), this 430-metre stretch - linking the Manningham Road on and off-ramps to the Eastern Freeway - is taking shape.

Five roadheaders have been working tirelessly underground, carefully carving through the rock layer. Earlier this month, the crews witnessed an incredible moment as the roadheaders broke through the wall, after starting their excavation journey from opposite ends.
