Meet Lucinda Hooper, Graduate Electrical Engineer!

Lucinda has already started carving out a successful career providing support on some of Australia’s biggest projects and volunteering her skills and knowledge to support Curtin University with their Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow (GET) Forum.

Read about her experience in our Graduate Program below!

“Throughout my graduate program, I’ve had the opportunity to support the construction team onsite during the construction phase of the Waitsia Gas Plant. This experience was invaluable, providing practical, hands-on exposure that goes beyond what is taught in a university setting.

“While onsite, I had the privilege of working alongside professionals with decades of construction experience, gaining insights that have significantly contributed to my development. I am now beginning a new rotation with the Corporate Procurement Team, where I look forward to gaining exposure to another key area of the business.

“The most rewarding aspect of working at Clough has been the people I've had the privilege to work with. Everyone I’ve encountered has been incredibly supportive and consistently willing to take time out of their day to answer questions and offer guidance. Their approachability and encouragement have made coming to work genuinely enjoyable.

“The highlight of my career so far has been the opportunity to work onsite at the Waitsia Gas Plant. It has been incredibly rewarding to witness the results of our collective efforts, particularly when systems that I contributed to begin to startup.

“My well-being has been greatly supported by the wonderful team I’ve been able to work with. Their encouragement and support throughout my graduate program have been instrumental in helping me feel valued and confident in my role.”

Lucinda has been a great role model and advocate for young women in STEM, volunteering her skills and knowledge at Curtin University's Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow (GET) Forum, an event that engaged over 200 Year 9 to 10 girls and their teachers, giving them hands-on experiences in STEM, specifically engineering.

“I had the privilege of participating in the Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow Program, where I helped provide secondary school students with the opportunity to engage in engineering activities. I believe initiatives like this play a crucial role in inspiring students to explore careers in the construction industry, particularly for those who may not have previously considered this path. It’s rewarding to contribute to initiatives that foster interest and diversity in the field.”

At the event, Lucinda shared her insights as a woman in STEM and coordinated an engineering workshop, helping to inspire the next generation of engineers and showcase the endless possibilities and career pathways in engineering.

“The Clough Graduate Program offers an excellent foundation for launching your career, providing the opportunity to gain exposure to various facets of the business. This experience not only helps you identify your strengths and areas of interest but also fosters a deeper understanding of how the organisation operates as a whole.”

“To any graduates thinking about applying to our Graduate Program, I’d say don't be afraid to ask questions and get more information if you need it!”
