We were thrilled to host the recent Girl Power in Engineering & IT Industry Panel and Breakfast in collaboration with the University of Melbourne at THE LUME Melbourne. Together, we welcomed over 150 Girl Power Program students, alums, and industry leaders to this inspiring event.
Attendees heard from our esteemed panel, who shared their experiences in the engineering and IT industries and the tangible steps being taken to achieve greater gender equality in the disciplines.
With an impressively engaged group of guests, the panel was asked inspiring questions from all around the room. They addressed topics from breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes, to the importance of mentors, taking on new opportunities without fear, overcoming imposter syndrome, and how to boost your self-confidence as a young professional. We cannot wait to see the next generation’s talents in action!
A big thank you to our MC, Professor Elaine Wong, University of Melbourne Pro Vice-Chancellor - Diversity & Inclusion, and all our panel members: Peter Bennett, CEO Clough; Sarah Erfani, ARC DECRA Fellow, Computing & Information Systems; Adriana Cullen, Senior Electrical Engineer; Molly Mackey, Graduate Engineer, Webuild Group; and Maddy McComb, Webuild Scholarship recipient.
