“I am sincerely grateful for the generous support I have been provided through the 2024 Webuild Civil Engineering Scholarship. I am truly honoured to be chosen for this scholarship, which will make a significant difference in my academic and professional journey.

“I chose to study civil engineering because I am passionate about creating sustainable and innovative solutions for large-scale infrastructure projects. I believe in the power of engineering to improve the quality of life for communities while minimising environmental impact.

“My career objective is to become a civil engineer who specialises in designing and implementing such solutions, ultimately contributing to the advancement of the field and making a positive impact on society.

“My experiences at the University of Melbourne have been immensely rewarding. The challenging academic environment, combined with the support from faculty and peers has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. The scholarship will further enable me to make the most of my time at the University and pursue my aspirations with greater focus and determination.

“Having recently moved from Brazil, I have faced various challenges, including covering tuition, accommodation and living expenses. Working part-time to support myself while maintaining a full-time course load has been demanding, often leaving me with little time and resources to fully engage in my studies.

“This scholarship will ease these pressures, allowing me to focus more on my academic pursuits. With the support provided, I will be able to invest in essential study materials, software, and a new computer, all of which are crucial for my success in civil engineering. Additionally, I will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, conferences, and academic events that will enhance my knowledge and skills, allowing me to stay current with industry trends and innovations.

“Once again, I want to thank Webuild for the generosity and support. This scholarship has not only provided me with financial relief but also inspired me to strive for excellence in my studies and future career. I am committed to making the most of this opportunity and look forward to contributing positively to the field of civil engineering.”
