Trainer & Assessor

Purpose of the Role

The Trainer & Assessor is responsible for planning, organising, and facilitating best practice training and assessment activities for Project personnel to maximise and validate the necessary knowledge, skills and critical risk mitigation behaviours for safe and successful onsite worker execution of High-Risk Work.

Qualifications

  • Cert IV TAE 40122 or TAE40116 (minimum)
  • WorkSafe High Risk Work Licence – relevant classes
  • Industry-specific qualification and competency Statement of Attainments
  • Driver Licence
  • Heavy vehicle licence - preferred
  • White Card

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in High-Risk Work training and assessment
  • Proven hands-on operational experience in construction, mining or tunnelling industries
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organising and delivering training programs, workshops and sessions

Required Competencies

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for conveying technical information to diverse audiences and key Project stakeholders
  • Proficient with training management software and tools
  • Exceptional organisational abilities to manage training materials, schedules, and participant records
  • Ability to provide excellent support and assistance to training participants
  • Exceptional attention to detail in managing training documentation and process records
  • Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills to effectively address and resolve training-related issues
  • Strong ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Well-developed collaborative skills to work effectively with training staff, Project teams and external training providers
  • Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive training plans and training and assessment materials, ensuring alignment with Project and industry specific training needs.
  • Organise and schedule training programs and sessions for Project personnel.
  • Maintain accurate training records, including participant lists, attendance and evaluations.
  • Facilitate effective communication between trainers, trainees and Project supervisors regarding training schedules and updates.
  • Arrange logistics for training sessions, such as room bookings, equipment, work area setup and materials distribution.
  • Assist in the development, distribution and organisation of training materials and resources.
  • Gather feedback from training participants and trainers to assess program effectiveness.
  • Accurately enter and update training-related data in training management systems.
  • Provide support and assistance to training participants, addressing their enquiries and needs.
  • Ensure that training activities adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance training processes and materials.
  • Implement Project risk mitigation practices and strategies.
