Clough, along with the Waitsia Joint Venture - Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU), as operator, and Beach Energy - is proud to announce the achievement of Ready For Start-Up (RFSU) for the Waitsia Gas Plant, located near Dongara in Western Australia.

This is a major milestone in the delivery of the Waitsia Gas Project and marks a pivotal step forward in one of Australia’s largest onshore gas developments, transitioning to production operations.

First gas export is expected over the coming weeks, followed by ramp-up to nameplate capacity in the coming months.

The Waitsia Gas Project is designed to provide a stable supply of domestic gas for Western Australia while contributing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to global markets.

The project plays an important role in supporting regional energy security and advancing the transition to cleaner energy worldwide.

About the Project

Clough was contracted to deliver the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning for Mitsui E&P Australia (MEPAU) and Beach Energy Ltd’s Waitsia Gas Project Stage 2 development, located ~16km southeast of Dongara and 350km north of Perth.

The project has been developed over a staged roll-out and includes the construction of the Waitsia Gas Plant, which will increase the output of the Waitsia Gas Field to 280 terajoules per day with the combined output of the Xyris Production Facility.

The project unlocks significant value for the Mid West region and the State of Western Australia by providing local jobs, community benefits and opportunities for local business.
