The Position

 

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President, Contracts – Infrastructure & Construction to lead and oversee all contractual aspects of our large-scale infrastructure and construction projects across Australia. This is a senior executive leadership position, playing a critical role in risk management, commercial strategy, and contract execution across a complex portfolio of national projects.

 

As VP Contracts Infrastructure and Construction, you will report directly to the Executive Vice President and serve as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team, project delivery units, and pre-contracts support. You’ll support a high-performing contracts team, shaping and implementing best-in-class contract management practices that align with corporate strategy and support the successful delivery of major infrastructure initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of contract lifecycle management for major infrastructure and construction projects (pre-award to post-completion).
  • Develop and implement commercial and contractual strategies to mitigate risk and maximise value across complex multi-billion-dollar projects.
  • Lead and support negotiations using various procurement modesl from alliances, to ITC, cost reimbursable and PPPs.
  • Collaborate closely with business development, operations, legal, procurement and finance teams to ensure compliance, alignment, and risk mitigation.
  • Manage and mentor a national team of contract and commercial professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert advice to the Executive VP and senior leadership on contractual risks, claims management, and dispute resolution.

 

Key Requirements

 

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in contract and commercial leadership roles within the infrastructure, construction, engineering, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience managing contracts for major public and private infrastructure projects (e.g. transport, energy, utilities, or large civil works).
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian construction law, standard forms of contract and commercial risk management across pre-contracts and delivery phases.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate at executive and board levels.
  • Demonstrated success in high-value contract negotiation and dispute resolution.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in quantity sruveying, law, engineering, construction management, or related disciplines.
