We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Expert to join the New Women and Babies Hospital Team in Perth! This role is based in our Perth office, with significant time on site.

 

Role overview 

You will split your time evenly between two critical functions:

  • 50 % Women &Babies Hospital – Provide risk‑management leadership on this landmark hospital project, working closely with project teams to identify, assess and manage risks across design and construction phases.
  • 50 % Bidding Risk Support – Support Clough’s wider business by providing risk analyses on major infrastructure tenders, ensuring risk is clearly understood and appropriately mitigated in bids.

 

Perth Women and Babies Hospital

 

Webuild is delivering the design and construction of the New Women and Babies Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. Commissioned by the Western Australia Government, the project is destined to replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital and will expand the healthcare services for women, children and their families in the State of West Australia, transforming the capacity of two important healthcare campuses: the Fiona Stanley Hospital complex and the Osborne Park Hospital.

Your focus will include:

 

  • Hospital project duties
    • Develop and maintain the project risk register; facilitate risk workshops; ensure alignment with Clough/Webuild frameworks and ISO 31000.
    • Work with engineering, design and construction teams to identify technical, safety, commercial and program risks; propose mitigation strategies.
    • Implement a risk‑reduction glide‑path, establishing metrics and dashboards to demonstrate a meaningful reduction in residual risk over time.
    • Ensure risk considerations are integrated into safety, quality and environmental processes; participate in audits and inspections.
    • Report regularly to senior leadership (and the client where relevant) on emerging risks, mitigation progress and compliance with contractual obligations and WA Government requirements.

 

  • Bidding risk function
    • Provide risk‑based input to tenders, including identification of project‑specific risks, development of contingency allowances and assessment of commercial terms.
    • Lead risk workshops and review sessions with relevant teams and senior management
    • Collaborate with estimating and commercial teams to prepare risk management plans for proposals.
    • Support due‑diligence reviews of prospective joint‑venture partners or subcontractors.
    • Maintain awareness of market, regulatory and geopolitical risks affecting infrastructure projects in Australia

 

What you will bring to the team:

 

  • Degree in engineering, risk management, construction management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in project risk management within large infrastructure or health‑facility projects.
  • Strong understanding of risk‑management frameworks (ISO 31000) and ability to implement risk‑reduction strategies, including glide‑path metrics.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholder assumptions/ assertions where appropriate
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work flexibly across project delivery and corporate functions.
  • Willingness to travel interstate as required for bids
