Webuild has been working in partnership with The University of Queensland (UQ) to deliver the Webuild Indigenous Engineering Scholarship, an initiative designed to support and inspire the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engineers.
Launched in 2022, the program supports students in their academic journeys, reflecting Webuild’s commitment to fostering diversity, gender equity, and meaningful inclusion within the engineering and construction industries.
The scholarship provides financial support to Indigenous students undertaking engineering degrees, helping to reduce barriers to education and strengthen pathways to future employment.
Marco Assorati, Senior Executive Vice President Operations Oceania Webuild and Executive President Clough, emphasised the alignment of the initiative with the Group’s reconciliation vision.
“A key pillar of our reconciliation vision is to create meaningful opportunities and pathways to employment. Supporting students through initiatives like the Webuild Indigenous Engineering Scholarship is one way we help remove barriers, build representation in our industry, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future.”
The scholarship forms part of Webuild’s broader commitment to STEM education and reconciliation. The company is currently delivering its third Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), focused on enabling equal participation of First Nations Peoples in the nation-building infrastructure projects delivered across Australia.
Webuild has proudly been part of the Queensland community since the early 1970s and continues to invest in local talent and capability to ensure the state is well-positioned to deliver the infrastructure needed for a sustainable future.
Through its partnership with UQ, Webuild is empowering Indigenous students to succeed in engineering, building capability, connection, and fostering long-term positive change that extends far beyond the classroom.
