Clough’s long-standing partnership with Engineers Australia supports our engineers in achieving chartered status. Through the Engineering Workforce Credentialing (EWC) Program, many of our engineers have taken the opportunity to obtain their Chartership in various areas of engineering practice, including Leadership & Management, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Process, Construction Engineering, and Project Management.

Padmakar ‘Paddy’ Zalkikar, Senior Project Engineer, recently obtained his Chartership through the EWC Program. This globally recognised accreditation signifies a commitment to excellence and exemplifies the highest level of professionalism with his area of expertise.

“I joined Clough in 2023, and the journey since has been incredibly enriching. During this time, I have gained invaluable insight and perspective into a number of business functions and even with my role, particularly subcontractor and supplier management, site engineering handover completions, project and package engineering support, and variation management functions for cost control.

“As a mechanical engineer by profession, I have always been keen on developing application-based engineering skills. I focus on maintaining technical integrity at the design level, minimising interface issues to ensure a smooth transition, and handing over the work to the construction team for execution and completion.

“Experiencing both sides of project execution and management, I embrace new challenges and strive to achieve to major milestones. This drive has led me to choose a career in the engineering and construction industry.”

“Clough’s welcoming work environment, coupled with its rich history of local and international project success, were significant factors that inspired me to join.

“Clough also provides an exceptional platform for professionals to further develop their skills and provide excellent support to those seeking greater responsibilities across the business and in their diverse project range. Clough’s impressive portfolio encompasses extensive experience in delivering energy, resources, and infrastructure projects and that’s exactly what I wanted to be a part of.”

For Paddy, the EWC program affirmed his value as a highly skilled and committed engineer, as recognised by Engineers Australia, the country’s premier engineering organisation.

“Becoming a chartered professional brings in that sense of accountability and commitment, fostering a more structured approach to work. It cultivates a strong sense of belonging and joy in contributing to projects. Additionally, it has significantly motivated me to pursue continuous professional development.

“Achieving chartership was a remarkable journey, made possible through the collective effort and expert guidance from Clough and Engineers Australia. Engineers Australia’s well-organised and structured process, combined with Clough’s seasoned professionals, provided me with invaluable support throughout the program.

“Their combined expertise and encouragement were instrumental in helping me navigate each step with confidence and ease. Clough and Engineers Australia provided a very positive environment throughout this streamlined process to my target, alleviating a lot of the pressure I thought there would be.

“Clough provides fulfilling work environment that consistently inspires me to deliver my utmost capabilities whenever the project demands.

“Clough’s effective communication, L&D courses and programs, mentorship training programs for young talent within the organisation, and use of state-of-the-art, in-house automation and software database development for higher productivity and efficiency are just some of the initiatives which make this a great place to work.
